Norbert Mutuku

Nairobi, Kenya

My given names are Norbert Mutuku and l am born and brought up just outside of the city of Nairobi, Kenya. I have been living abroad for many years where l have served as a priest. I have served in ordained ministry in Kenya, USA and UK. I recently returned home and established Asilomar Foundation and we teach the people of the village community in which we live, regenerative ways of growing food (permaculture). I live in Msumarini Village, Kikambala in the coastal part of Kenya.

I am using 360life as a complimentary tool in my work especially with the school community. I am becoming more aware of the wider and deeper issues that are facing some of the students as well as members of the community who have interacted with Asilomar. As a result Asilomar is widening its scope of mission from just regenerative ways of growing food to ‘the use of blossoming plants to attain blossoming souls – in other words, using the tendering of plants to tend to broken souls.

Timothy Mutunga

Kenya

Timothy is a trained minister of the gospel. Passionate about evangelism and discipleship. He loves ministering to those affected by incarceration; inmates and victims of crime. Timothy serves with Good News Global- Kenya. He is a qualified trainer with 360Life. Timothy is married and lives in Nairobi, Kenya with his family.

360Life training is a tool offers understanding on the relationship between trauma and mental health. This is important because it helps in understanding why people behave the way they do. I will use this tool in prison ministry. I am able to evaluate behavioral issues and counsel with understanding instead of accusing them. Asking the right question: What happened to you? Instead of what is wrong with you? I will train prison staff and inmates so that they are to relate well for effective rehabilitation to take place. For Good News Global – Kenya, I will equip my team members to make sure we spread in many parts where GNG does ministry.

Personally, this training has helped me to handle people well for I now understand people have different smartnesses and preferences and none is better than the other is but God has created us different. Acknowledging that we live in a broken world, there is need to support those affected by trauma either as children or as now. In my family, I am handling my children well for I know they are different. I also avoid exposing them childhood trauma and being sensitive not to allow transgenerational trauma to them.
